Red Fort:
The Red Fort is a historic fortress located in the heart of Delhi, India. It served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years, until 1856. Today, the fort is home to several museums and is a prominent symbol of India’s rich history. In 2007, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Red Fort Complex.
Jama Masjid:
The Jama Masjid was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656 at a cost of 1 million rupees. Completed in 1656, the mosque features three grand gates, four towers, and two 40-meter-high minarets made of red sandstone and white marble. Its terrace is crowned with three domes, flanked by the towering minarets. This iconic mosque is one of the final masterpieces constructed under Shah Jahan’s reign.
Qutub Minar:
The Qutub Minar is the tallest brick minaret in the world, located in the Mehrauli area of Delhi, India. Part of the Qutub Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it stands as a remarkable example of Indo-Islamic Afghan architecture. The minaret is surrounded by several historically significant structures, including the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, built alongside the minar, and the ancient Iron Pillar of Delhi.
Humayun’s Tomb:
Humayun’s Tomb, located in Delhi, India, is the final resting place of Mughal Emperor Humayun. Commissioned by his first wife, Empress Bega Begum, in 1569-70, the tomb was designed by Persian architects Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad. In 1993, Humayun’s Tomb was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
